Step One: Create the Basic Image

OK!  This is the very first step in creating a rollover effect!  First, make a new image.  To do this, click on File, and then on New.  This calls up a window (Fig. 1.1).  For the purposes of this tutorial, create an image with width 200, height 200, and a White first layer.  Name it “My First Rollover”.  Press OK, and watch as a white 200x200 box appears on the screen. 

Now, make a box on your new image.  Click on the Color Selector.  This will call up a window with a color gradient.  Check off the Only Web Colors near the bottom-left corner of the box.  This will ensure that almost all people who use your rollovers on the web will see them as you want them to be seen.  Now, select any color you want, such as red.
